The Stittsville Fire Station #46 was designed by CSV Architects in accordance with the City of Ottawa’s Green Building Policy. The building is LEED Silver certified through the Canada Green Building Council.


The building incorporates a wide array of sustainable design features to reduce energy consumption, use of natural resources, impact on the environment, and improve occupant health and comfort. Some of the sustainable design features include:


  • High efficiency boilers supply in floor radiant heating throughout the building,
  • 42% reduction in water usage,
  • Reduced heat impact from the roof enhanced
  • commissioning procedures to maximize effectiveness of building systems,
  • Energy savings of 37% above model building,
  • Elimination of CFC refrigerants,
  • Renewable and recycled materials used throughout,
  • Reduced use of off gasing construction materials.
